Devotions

Devotions

Original Miniature Artwork

What does it mean to devote yourself to something?

We often think of devotion as something grand or sacred, but I think it can be found in much quieter places. In the animals we care for, the people we love, the things we create, the places we return to, and the small rituals that make up our lives.

Beside a book of Mary Oliver's poetry, a little foster kitten rests — two seemingly ordinary things that, together, speak to something much larger. The words that remind us how precious our time here is, and the small, everyday acts of care through which we choose to spend it.

Painted by hand using traditional watercolour techniques on 300gsm Fabriano watercolour paper, this miniature measures only 34 × 45 mm — smaller than a matchbox.

The painting is delicately float-mounted within a warm walnut box frame and protected behind non-reflective museum glass. The glazing has been carefully selected to protect the work while allowing the intricate details of the miniature to remain beautifully clear, resulting in a complete, ready-to-hang artwork.

As with each original in the collection, Devotions is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, documenting its originality and provenance.
